Henry County Historical Society Christmas Open House

Event Description:
The Henry County Historical Society Christmas Open House will take place December 9, 2017 from 1:00p.m.-8:00p.m. in Napoleon, Ohio. Both our Dr. John Bloomfield Home and Fairgrounds locations will be open for the Northwest Ohio communities enjoyment.

The Dr. John Bloomfield Home and Carriage House Museum will feature the best in both vintage and modern Christmas decorations. Decorated by Jean Breamer and Rose Wiemken the home will have over 200 peices of Henry County History on display. Some collections include clothing and textiles from the mid-1800-early 1900s, photos from Napoleon, Ohio, and various peices of Victorian era furnature. Light snacks and drinks will be available in the dining room.

Our Fairgrounds location will feature the Hartman Log Home decorated as it would have been during the American Civil War 1861-1865. Cooking, knitting, and various demonstrations, talks, and tours will be provided by the socity's living historians. 1850s-1880s period candies and food will be available for samples. Including our traditional German Wassel!

The Christmas Open House will conclude with a traditional German Christmas Eve church service located at the HCHS Log Home at the Henry County Fairgrounds. This intimate event is open to the public and is an opportunity to experience an abriviated version of this unique holiday tradition.
